'The Land' is made by the Women's Soap Co-operative of Beita, just south of Nablus. The newest of the Nablus soap brands, al-Ard are true gems. Since they work in relatively small batches and are connected with many local small producers, their olive oil is often among the very best. The cooperative's equipment is all stainless steel and run electrically, compared with other brands which use gas or wood burning furnaces to cook their soap.
Rather than hand stamping their bars, the Co-op uses a press machine that makes a deep and visible imprint. Al-Ard's main market is in northern Palestine, in the areas around Nazareth and Jenin.

History: Nablus has been a hub for olive oil soap production for over a thousand years. All the Nablus soap brands sold are cooked in the traditional style out of olive oil, water, and soda, resulting in a soda-less bar of pure saponified olive oil.
Size:• Made in Palestine • Weight: 5 oz (141.75 g)
Care:Olive oil soap gets better with age. Keep them in a dry place for an increasingly olive-tan colored, dense, sudsy, and less soap-smelling bar. They can be aged even faster in a sunny window.
Sustainability: Olive oil is a local, sustainable resource in Palestine, and the cooperative supports local farmers and olive groves, many of which have been passed down through generations.
Cultural Significance:
Nablus soap is more than just a skincare product; it symbolizes Palestinian resilience and heritage. The cooperative helps preserve traditional crafts and contributes to the local economy. For many families in Nablus, olive oil soap production has been a livelihood for generations.
This soap is often valued for its purity and simplicity, making it a natural, ethical, and eco-friendly alternative to mass-produced soaps. It’s popular not only in Palestine but globally, with many looking to support Palestinian artisans and fair trade products.
About the co-op: Founded in 2021, they're a Palestinian and American member-owned company seeking to make Nablus soap inexpensive and widely accessible worldwide, and to do so in a way that spreads benefits among producers, retailers, and users, and embodies commitments to democracy.
